"Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation...even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind." -Leonardo da Vinci
Dance Your PhD Winners Chosen
This is Science's annual contest, which recognizes the best dance interpretations of scientific doctoral work. The rules are simple: the dance has to be based on the scientist's PhD research, and that scientist has to be part of the dance.
2011: This is the fourth year of the contest, and they received a record number of 55 dances, ranging from psychology to astrophysics. Sixteen finalists were chosen by six previous contest winners and then their dances were scored by a panel of judges that included scientists from Harvard University, MIT, and Boston University, as well as choreographers from Pilobolus and the entire dance cast of Pilobolus' "Shadowland". You can see all of the video entries for this year and some from previous years by clicking here and following the various links. They are usually quite entertaining!!
